Some Window to the Immanent

I seem to have come down with the little man’s cold. Rather than catching up on my sleep, though, I pulled an all nighter catching up on Heroes. I’ve been hearing good things about this show for months. Yesterday afternoon I watched the first episode and then couldn’t stop. It was like eating Pringles. Yes, the show has a definite junk food feeling to it, but I’m hooked. I’ve watched all eleven episodes. And now I have to wait until the end of January for the next installment. Just like BSG. Sigh.

I’ve been a long time fan of Cat Power’s music, but I’ve just lost all respect for her as an individual. She recorded a Cat Stevens cover, specifically to be used in a commercial…for the uber-evil diamond industry. Why couldn’t she just say no, like The Thermals did to Hummer (incidentally, they will be headlining at the Triple Rock on February 27th).

a faux hawk for the holidays

Bonus: Daydreaming of a vacation to New Ephemera…never mind that the place doesn’t exist (via my latest five-minute crush, Tinselman).
Plus: The beginning of the end of Harry Potter. In book form, at least. It’ll be a while before they catch up with the rest of the films.
And: Loved the This American Life Holiday Spectacular.

I *heart* Heroes . . . what a great ensemble cast, and intricate but not completely stupidly intricate plot lines. And Hiro - fantastic character! I love the look on his face when he squinches his eyes and thinks really hard and uses his ability.

Great pic of the little man!

Thanks Kim! Too bad he didn’t dig the “fin” on his head, as he called it.

Iseult - I am so ridiculously hooked! And Hiro is awesome. I just typed something and then realized it’s too spoilery-ish. We’ll talk.
