A Tendency to Cause Trouble

Five things that totally suck:

  • I dropped my new cell phone. Into the toilet. Yep, now I’m that guy. And I wasn’t even talking to or texting anyone at the time. Managed to yank my SIM card out and pop it into my old phone, but I’m not sure if the new one will work again after it dries out. I just can’t have nice things. Ever.
  • My back has been killing me since Sunday morning, for no particular reason.
  • Monday I managed to spill half a cup of coffee into my open purse, before my favorite mug fell to the floor and shattered.
  • This morning we saw the school bus pull away, about a block ahead of us, but we were never able to catch up.
  • St. Paul is creating a no-go zone around Xcel Center, the area I need to go-go through to get in and out of my neighborhood.

Five things that don’t suck:

  • Bring your freak to the streets with the Liberty Parade. It will be good times, especially with the music afterwards (Dillinger Four and STNNNG in particular).
  • Going to see the new Clone Wars movie this Friday with my son and my Dad.
  • I like the idea of this Invisibility Cloak, maybe paired with these anime eyes. Very creepy contacts, but they could be fun. For Halloween or something.
  • The Venture Bros (via Amanda). But that only makes me want to get cable. Oh, Adult Swim, how I yearn for you.
  • Fun with Festival, two sisters who sing together. I like what I’ve heard so far.

    Re: Phone:

Leave the back off of it, put it in a cloth bag (a cotton grocery store one) and swing it in circles over your head. This pulls alot of the liquid out of the electronics. I have fixed my husbands blackberries (yep, done this more than once) after he has dropped them in ponds.

I have dropped my cell phone into many things of water - including the toilet. Such a bummer. Last year, my crazy cat - who i eventually passed onto my mother - pushed my cell phone into her water dish. yes ultimately, to get back at me for whatever reason. speaking of toilets, i once flushed my sunglasses down a toilet. i was bummed. i am still bummed.

You can watch Venture Brothers and a bunch of other Adult Swim stuff online for free, and I mean legitimately. http://www.adultswim.com/video/index.html they typically put up the new shows on Friday night that would normally air on Saturday and Sunday. Not sure how long they stay up though, probably until the next week. I’ve had to resort to this after my cable company (Cablevision) decided they wanted more money for a new yacht if I expected to watch Cartoon Network and a handful of other channels that used to be in the cable package. Damn the man.

Monica, I LOVE YOU! Forever and always. Last night I put the phone in one of my socks and twirled it around a few times. That seems to have done the trick. Damn thing works again!

And thank you Jessica, my kindred spirit.

Sean and Amanda, duly noted! I watched a couple of episodes last night, and that helped me feel much better. And yes Amanda, I totally understand your love of Doc Hammer. Only so well.
