The Last Gasp

A number of close friends are in the midst of achieving higher education. I am all for academia, but I do so enjoy it when they are on break from school. This past week has been blissful, spending so much time with some of the people I love. Sadly it’s coming to an end. They’re all heading back to their ivory towers in homework-land next week…while the little man’s Spring break is just beginning. Looks like we’re going it alone for his vacation and I still haven’t figured out all the details. Or any of them really. I should probably get that sorted this weekend, while I’m tackling the To Do list of the mundane. The boy has grown by leaps and bounds over the winter and badly needs new pants, new swimming trunks and a haircut. Naturally he wants none of them.

While I’m taking care of business I’m missing out on a last minute mini road trip to Mankato tonight, to feel the Chunder! We could hit up the MN Roller Girls bout instead but realistically? I’m sure it’ll be all about the Roku box. It arrived yesterday and the boy and I are already far too enamored of it. We have a jam-packed queue to keep us occupied. Here’s to a Spring of extreme sloth. Le sigh.

Bonus: Two well-deserved shout outs to local artist Sean Tubridy here and here.
Plus: Japan’s Suicide Forest: “Aokigahara Forest is known for two things in Japan: breathtaking views of Mount Fuji and suicides. Also called the Sea of Trees, this destination for the desperate is a place where the suicidal disappear, often never to be found in the dense forest.”
And: New York, a city of characters: One in 8 Million.
