When Things Crack Instead of Bending

Feeling overwhelmed has become the norm lately. So despite (or maybe because of) the impending madness of the week, I’m already looking ahead to the weekend. Things that need doing before I leave for Chicago:

  • Getting an oil change (done);
  • Enlisting someone to feed the cat;
  • Loads and loads of laundry;
  • Packing a bag for myself and one for the little man;
  • Reminding grandma that she’s taking the lad for the weekend;
  • Procuring snacks and sounds for the long drive down;
  • Thanking the lovely Emily for offering to put me up for the duration of my stay.

And those are just my Chicago-related To Dos. I won’t bore you with my regular life list. That’s what Backpack is for. But some of the more exciting keywords include home equity loan and bill collectors.

Bonus: Once again the Fabulist provided me with a much-needed smile.
Plus: A friend was down in Chicago over the weekend (to see Bjork, how jealous am I?) and recommends the Handlebar for good, vegan-friendly grub. Definitely adding that to the ever-expanding list, but I’d need to be in Chicago for at least a week to hit up all the restaurants on it.

    I forget if I’ve ever recommended Alice & Friends Vegetarian Cafe to you, or if you’ve been there. Mmm mmm. A place I make sure to go whenever I’m back in Chi-town. I love their Korean barbeque. Have a great trip!

    T-Minus 3 days!!! Squee!! Is it Friday you’re coming? Thursday? I can’t remember.

    I’m excited. Also, I washed my floors today. I would say that I do that sort of thing normally, but that would be a Total Lie. It was all for you!

    Now for the rest of the place…

    P.S. - I was told to take you to Earwax on Milwaukee for some good vegan dining. But I have never been there, so we’ll see. I’d hate to take you there and have it be a bust.
