An Adventure As Big As Life Itself

All right, so it wasn’t all that…but I still thought it was a pretty spectacular, spontaneous day. For me, anyhow. The boys were probably a bit bored. I took the little man out earlier…to Whole Foods. Big-time fun there. At least he enjoys our various shopping trips, and this time he got some bananas and peanut butter filled pretzels out of the deal. Afterwards I left him in the husband’s care. I had called one of the ladies beforehand, confirming our plans for tomorrow. I discovered she had other plans for today. Plans involving Tim Burton’s new movie, Big Fish, and one of our other friends. Not only did I invite myself along, I altered their plans so as to attend a later showing. And they still gave me my presents (happily an ass kicking wasn’t one of them). I met up with these swell gals at an Uptown coffee shop. Then we went on to the film (my first of 2004). It was quite fine, though I can sorta see Ebert’s eye candy criticism, with a little hindsight. But it kept me thoroughly entranced for the duration of the film. Afterwards it was on to yet another caffeine serving establishment, to belatedly exchange our holiday gifts. The ladies seemed to enjoy what we got them, especially the pressies picked out by the little man. The kid has good taste. I scored a kickass wok with wooden utensils, and, Lane, just so you know I’m in the club now…an Aerolatte. Woo-hoo! Going to be whipping up all kinds of froth tonight.
