Be On My Side And I’ll Be On Your Side

Didn’t sleep well, and so I started the day out a bit low. Thankfully things turned around quite nicely. The little man and I had a lovely time rejoining our ECFE class. We’d missed the last couple of weeks, so it was good to see everyone again…and they were all very supportive and kind. But after class I broke that cardinal rule, you know, the one about never going grocery shopping on an empty stomach. And this was *special* grocery shopping. I regularly stock up at United Noodles, but today I went with a specific goal in mind…to obtain some Japanese snack items for Saturday night’s Film Fest/Potluck. I had a fierce internal debate over buying the Japanese-style biscotti versus the package of Fresh Choco Cake. The latter won out, only because of their tagline…”Please enjoy the best harmony of Chocolate with soft cake.” After staking out the sweet then savory snacks, I started in on regular meal-type items. Unfortunately I’m a little slow on the uptake at times. I was so excited by the prospect of vegan-friendly Tofu Hanbagu Hijiki and Tofu Hanbagu Sanshuno Konna mixes, with ingredients in English, that I failed to notice the prep instructions are all in Japanese. Well, I noticed, but not until we got home. At least there are pretty pictures on the back of the packages. I get the basic gist of it, but will have to guess on proportions. Wish me luck. At least I walked out of the store with a number of good goods, including a bag of bean sprouts and a kickass calendar, both for free. And once home we had a lovely lunch of soy chicken stir fry, while listening to “in the fishtank” by Low + Dirty Three. All in all, not a bad day. Not bad at all.
