Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention

It seems damn near impossible to get the husband’s attention, unless we’re in the same room. Shouting from another room, loud as my voice can be, doesn’t always do the trick. I have to contend with closed doors (to keep the cats out of the cat-free zones) and air purifiers that are invariably running. And if the husband is in the computer room, chances are he’s got his fancy-schmancy Sennheiser headphones on. Besides, noisemaking isn’t a feasible option after the little man’s bedtime. Thus I found myself devising a plan at 3am this morning, when I’d woken up in dire need of ibuprofen and heating pads. After dragging myself out of bed and stumbling across the hall to the computer room, I relayed my thoughts to the husband. I told him we could fashion a collar to be worn around his neck. I would carry some sort of remote trigger. Whenever I need his attention or assistance I could press the button, thus giving him a little jolt…nothing more than a mild tingling sensation, really. He was surprisingly unreceptive to this brilliant idea. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
