Warning: May Be Hazardous To Your Health

Like most people, J and I have our quirks. But since I’m running this show I’ll delve into his for now (kisses). When I first met the man, many years ago, he drank a variety of beverages. A very limited variety, but still. Receiving his seal of approval were mango juice, root beer, orange juice, warm (not hot) apple cider and water. In an effort to simplify his life he’s slashed that list by more than half. Now he’s down to just orange juice and water. We do most of our grocery shopping at the local co-ops. Unfortunately none carry the brand of OJ that J prefers. After checking the big-ass grocery stores, it turns out that only Rainbow did. So things were all right. For a while. Then tragedy struck. The Rainbow Foods grocery chain was recently bought out by Roundy’s. Since the takeover there has been no sign of J’s precious Sunbright OJ. The area it occupied in the freezer section now contains the Roundy’s brand OJ. A friend of ours drinks low-acid orange juice. J speculated that all of the acid removed from that brand has been added to Roundy’s. With a nearly empty fridge and an insatiable thirst, I finally broke down and tried it myself. An act of desperation, mind you. It’s like drinking battery acid. After just one sip I could feel the delicate tissues in my mouth and throat being sloughed off and sent sliding into my stomach. I think it’s time to head to the co-op to obtain alternate beverage options.
