Woman Jailed Under Grass-patch Law

SANTIAGO, Chile (Reuters) - A Chilean housewife sent to jail for refusing to plant turf in front of her house was absolved by a judge on Friday in a case that sparked a public outcry and a presidential apology.

“However important it might be to have a pretty garden in front of your house, I don’t think there’s any justification for throwing someone in jail,” he told reporters.

Ya think? Dang, and I was annoyed last summer when the city sent a notice asking me to mow my lawn. Though if I hadn’t complied they would have sent someone to mow it and billed me $200.
