Megan, I hope you are safely on your way now (or here already).

Laurel - yep, the co-op can be a pain in the ass for some of the basics. I end up stopping by Target or Cub for paper products and the like. As for the library sitch, don't even get me started. Due to budget issues the brand new Minneapolis Central Library had to reduce its operating hours. They're only open five days a week. It's ridiculous.

Ericka, I would've gladly gone in your place.

Zophia, but of course! And this go around I plan to look at many more properties. I was in too much of a hurry last time and it was more of a seller's market then.

Closing 3 library branches, for just one to take its place?! They'll probably all become Starbucks coffee houses in the next 12 days, especially if 2 of the libraries were directly across the street from one another.

I forgot cheese cloth off my list at the big-chain grocer last Friday. Not wanting to make a U-turn and fight my way back into the overpacked strip mall of retail giants, I decided to stop in at the nearby Organic Foodsy hangout/co-op grocer on the way home to pick some CC up.

The moment I walked in they all sensed I wasn't a regular... it must have been the 9-5 slacks and that I had my long hair in a pony tail, but wasn't a guy.

Don't get me wrong. I like hippies. I watched Al Gore's movie. I don't have a Jesus-fish sticker on my car. But I just needed some cheese cloth. Cheese cloth as in mesh, as in 16 cents a yard, as in cheaper than renting-library-books-and-turning-them-in-one-time cheap.

Do we know the punch line yet? Yep. I paid $5.99 for one airplane food-sized package of unbleached, unfiltered organic cotton (probably grown on duty-free at a monastery in Vermont) cheese cloth.
Co-op for an improvlunch and hanging out, yes. Buying fruit and soy milk, yes. Cheese cloth? light bulbs? U-turn u-turn u-turn.

My bum is stranded in North Dakota until tomorrow, due to this midwestern CRAP of a snow storm. I was supposed to be en route yesterday, but nooooo. Mother Nature has her panties in a bundle, I assume.
